APPEARANCE
DUSKFIRE
Duskfire is a slender young she-cat with eyes that can seem green or amber, depending on how the light catches them. Her pelt is tortoiseshell-and-white, and her most distinguishing physical feature would have to be the markings on her face. Almost a straight split down the centre of her face, her face is half black and half ginger, and reminded her mother of a sunset when she was born, hence her name prefix.

PERSONALITY
Ten things one should know about Duskfire:
LIKES,
[/font]- HOT TEMPERED – Duskfire is a she-cat whose hot temper has become quite infamous among her clanmates. If you say something she doesn't like, she's likely to bite back. Some of her clanmates joke that her grouchy attitude comes from all the time she spends with the clan's crotchety elders, and that their cantankerousness has rubbed off on the pretty young warrior. Some of her clanmates even refer to her as 'the youngest elder' behind her back.
- ANTISOCIAL – Okay, maybe not antisocial exactly, but she's not exactly going to win any awards for being the best at making friends. She prefers the company of cats that she considers intelligent, which is basically anyone who shares the opinion that the clan's alliance with Shadowclan is a mistake and will result in the downfall of Riverclan. She thinks Riverclan should be a sovereign clan again.
- BITTER – She holds a lot of resentment in her heart for Shadowclan, and she hates Brokenstar with a passion. She blames Shadowclan for the deaths of her littermates Mallowkit and Petalkit, as well as for the death of her friend Frogpaw. She believes that if it hadn't been for the strain that allowing the other clan to hunt in Riverclan territory, her friend and her lost littermates would still be alive.
- PREJUDICED – Duskfire is extremely prejudiced against members of other clans. Her resentment towards Shadowclan that has no outlet has festered into a greater problem – prejudice towards every member of the other clans. She believes that no cat from another clan should ever be trusted and that they will always be out to bring harm to Riverclan. She is less prejudiced towards kittypets than she is towards members of other clans or rogues. Due to recent events, Duskfire is currently more prejudiced towards members of Shadowclan and Thunderclan than she is towards Windclan, although that really doesn't say much, since she wouldn't trust Windclan with a single hair on her pelt.
- PROUD – Duskfire thinks a lot of herself. Her sense of pride often gives others the impression that she is arrogant and cocky, but her problem is really just the fact that she doesn't like the idea of others thinking that she is unintelligent or incapable of doing something. While she doesn't care what others think of her in other aspects of her life, she does not like being judged on a lack of ability to do anything, and so she makes sure that she doesn't look incapable of anything.
- STUBBORN – Duskfire believes in her beliefs and won't listen if you try to convince her otherwise. She's incredibly stubborn and once she's got an idea in her head, there isn't much hope you can talk her out of it. Her pride prevents her from admitting that she is wrong.
- SARCASTIC – Along with Duskfire's prickly attitude is her sharp tongue. She's always got a sarcastic comment about something. She really doesn't hate everyone and want to humiliate or hurt anyone, she just subconsciously uses her sarcasm as preemptive self-defence to keep herself from getting close to others, resulting in her getting hurt.
- LOYAL – Despite Duskfire's almost-ornery outward appearance, she is a cat to be trusted. Once she makes a friend, she will do anything for the ones she loves. Her loyalty to her clan is undying. Although some cats may find love with cats in other clans, Duskfire believes that she could never place a cat from another clan above her clan. Her heart is in her clan, and if she were to fall in love with a cat from another clan, she would push them as far away as she could, because she values the warrior code as much as she values her family and her clan.
- CALLOUS – If one needs to be cheered up, it's probably best not to go to Duskfire for comfort. She's lost several close companions through her short life, and has developed an attitude in which she hides her emotions and gives an outward appearance of callousness because she's afraid of letting any vulnerability show. She convinces herself to think the worst in situations because she believes that assuming the worst will ease the pain of loss when it happens. Her outwardly pessimistic and callous attitude puts a lot of cats off of trying to get close to her.
- AFFECTIONATE – One wouldn't think it, but Duskfire is really an affectionate cat. However, most have never seen her affectionate side and therefore would not fathom her to have one at all. But to those that Duskfire cares deeply about, she is very affectionate towards. She does have a soft side, she just keeps it hidden for fear that others may view it as a weakness.

HISTORY
Mossnose was a pretty young she-cat, and was living in a time of prosperity when she received her warrior name. She was given her first apprentice only a few moons after receiving her name. Her apprentice, Cloudpaw, admired her a great deal. As she trained the young tom, she soon found herself making excuses for one-on-one training sessions with her apprentice. The entire clan could see it – warrior and apprentice had fallen in love.
Mossnose had earned her warrior name in a battle that had left her entire body quite scarred. An arrogant young queen in the nursery for the third time got into an argument with Mossnose over some freshkill. The queen bragged about her contributions to the clan in terms of young warriors, and told Mossnose that she was too physically scarred and unattractive for any tom to ever want her. Both Cloudpaw and Oakheart came to Mossnose's defence, with Cloudpaw declaring that no number of scars could not detract from Mossnose's beauty and that it only proved that she was willing to risk her life for her clan.
Shortly after Cloudpaw became Cloudheart – named for his uplifting sense of humour – Mossnose announced that she was expecting kits. Things did not go well, and the two warriors were distraught when the kits were born – one lifeless she-kit they named Softkit and a tomkit half the size of a normal kit, named Halfkit for his diminutive size. Despite favourable conditions of having been born during a plentiful newleaf, Halfkit was not strong enough and didn't survive.
Mossnose and Cloudheart were crushed by the loss of their kits and decided that they would never have kits of their own, although the duo remained as close as ever. When they weren't sunning themselves together or sharing tongues, both were busy serving their clan in whichever ways they could, without the distraction of kits.
Despite their vows never to have kits, several newleafs later, Mossnose realized that she was expecting kits again. She tried to deny it, hide it, but the same queen who had once teased her for her scars insisted in teasing the aging warrior about her condition. Everything culminated when the queen began teasing Cloudheart, who had been ignorant of Mossnose's condition. He confronted her about the accusations, and when she confirmed that she was indeed expecting his kits again, he demanded that she move to the nursery immediately to protect their unborn kits.
The she-cat obeyed her mate and soon, in the middle of greenleaf, the battle-scarred queen had four healthy kits, two toms: Mallowkit and Oakkit – the latter named in honour of their recently departed close friend, Oakheart – and two she-kits, Petalkit and Duskkit. Mossnose and Cloudheart were extremely worried about the lives of their kits, as Riverclan was falling on increasingly hard times, sharing their territory with the greedy Shadowclanners, for whom neither Mossnose and Cloudheart had no repect.
Crookedstar had been quick to align himself with Shadowclan, and made an agreement that would permit Shadowclan to hunt in Riverclan territory. Mossnose and her mate did not support the decision, and held the Shadowclanners in nothing short of contempt. However, neither spoke out about their disapproval of their leaders decision because while they had no respect for Shadowclan, they still respected Crookedstar and his authority.
Cloudheart was an attentive father, and often came to share tongues with his mate and tell stories to his kits. The kits adored their father, and shared a very close bond with them. Petalkit and Duskkit were as close to one another as Oakkit was to Mallowkit, and they used to play warrior games like “tomclan versus sheclan”. The two pairs were inseparable.
Unfortunately, their blissful existence was not destined to last. When the kits were five moons old and almost at an age to become apprentices - a relief to both parents as they were sure that the kits would all survive – tragedy befell the happy family. It was the middle of leaf-bare and food was in short supply, especially with Shadowclan sharing Riverclan's hunting grounds. The four kits were not as well-fed as they should have been, and greencough soon spread like wildfire through the nursery.
Fortunately, Duskkit and Oakkit were able to recover, but not before losing their best friends and littermates: Petalkit and Mallowkit. Mossnose and Cloudheart were distraught, and neither seemed to remember their decision not to question their clan leader's authority about the alliance between Riverclan and Shadowclan. Duskkit and Oakkit, desperately grasping for something to blame for why Starclan had taken their best friends from them, found it on their parents' lips. Starclan was punishing Riverclan for aligning with Shadowclan, something that they both believed was against the warrior code.
The two kits, left weak from having fallen prey to greencough, had to wait until they were almost eight moons old before they could become apprentices, because they had not been strong enough. In their extra time spent together in the nursery, the two kits grew very close, bonded by the experience of having lost Mallowkit and Petalkit. As apprentices, the two were inseparable. Duskpaw made friends with a tom named Frogpaw, who her brother was also quite fond of.
Cloudheart and Mossnose warned Duskpaw not to let Frogpaw distract her from her training, hinting that Duskpaw and Frogpaw would some day become mates. Duskpaw was astounded by this because she didn't like Frogpaw like that. However, she was devastated when he was killed in a border skirmish. Duskpaw began to push everyone away, afraid to lose them too. It took Oakpaw nearly dying in battle before Duskpaw realized that as much as she didn't want to be hurt by losing her brother, she would hurt more by having pushed him away. For the rest of their apprenticeship, the two did not really bond with any of the other apprentices.
Their parents' negative opinions of the Shadowclanners festering in their minds, the duo frequently engaged in hushed conversations about the state of things in Riverclan. Changing the topic to the weather or going swimming if anyone walked too close, they frequently discuss their discomfort at how used to their territory the Shadowclanners are becoming.
The duo were content being apprentices, perhaps more so than the average apprentice. Although they did not enjoy the task of cleaning out the elders' den, Duskpaw in particular enjoyed hearing the stories of Riverclan's former glory, when it stood on its own paws. The she-cat hoped that one day the clan would be able to return to sovereignty, and be the glorious clan that it once had been.
This past greenleaf, Duskpaw and Oakpaw were both chosen to defend the territory of Tallpines. In the battle, both apprentices performed well, and earned their warrior names upon Riverclan's victory: Duskfire for her flare, and Oakspirit for his determination in battle.
