The she-cat padded into the elders’ den, seeking her parents. She had news from the Gathering that she was eager to share. Leopardstar had finally taken charge and stood against the other three. There was a band of rogues in the forest that had allied themselves with Thunderclan and by extension Windclan. Windclan had a new leader. Brokenstar hadn’t even bothered to show his ugly face at the gathering until things were already getting heated. Of course, she’d ended up running her mouth and Leopardstar had called her into her den for a chat after the gathering, but Brokenstar had offended Duskfire on a personal level and well, she couldn’t help it. Oh, she was eager to share the news of the prior night’s events with her sire and dam.
Only, when she paused in the entrance of the elders’ den to let her hazel eyes adjust to the darkness, she found that neither were present. She frowned when she realized this, but instead found a long-haired black tom named Nightbreeze who was currently out of her good graces. Far out of them, in fact. Although the clan apparently thought otherwise. She wanted to spit in contempt - they thought that she and Nightbreeze were mates! That they were going to soon be gracing the clan with kits! The idea was absolutely preposterous, and she wanted to box the ears of whichever cat had started that rumour.
That was the entire reason she chose not to associate with her clanmates. Gossip-crazed idiots, that’s what they all were, and she wanted none of it. “Do you know where Mossnose and Cloudheart are?” She asked coolly. She had urgent news to share with her parents, news about the future of the clans and she wanted to share it with them before they heard it from someone else.
OOC: Thought I'd start another thread for these two so that they might have a chance to reconcile before the Shadowclan invasion.

THAT'S JUST THE GHOST OF ME YOU'RE SEEING
Nightbreeze had been doing the same thing he usually did: sleep. What did it matter if it was great weather outside, that everyone else was out hunting and talking and whatnot? It wasn't as if they missed him, nor did they desire to fetch a disabled elder to come spend the day with them. Well, he didn't want to go out anyway. He'd rather just stay inside and sleep so no one had to suffer from his pain-induced moods.
It had been a few sunrises since his quarrel with Duskfire, the young warrior. He knew her to a fiery she-cat, but at the beginning of their time together she had been gentle and cool with him. But then he had to go on a pitiful, selfish rant about how she'd never understand his situation. How did they even get on that subject? The memory was so fuzzy, but he could still feel the hot, thick storm clouds forming and then billowing away, the heaviness of his heart. He had probably very well lost whatever interest Duskfire had in getting to know him, all because of the mistake of opening his maw. He really had to learn to subdue his emotions. Or just stay away from everyone...
A voice he hadn't expected to hear broke into his empty sleep and he raised his head, blinking tired gold eyes. A questioning 'hmm?' was his initial response before he actually processed the words from the cat. It took him a few solidly silent moments to gather himself from his sleepy state, but when he did imagine his surprise at seeing what cat had come to visit today.
His eyes widened in disbelief and it seemed that now he was finally awake. "Duskfire?" |
he murmured, squinting his eyes at her and blinking as if he wasn't sure she was there. He was about to ask a really mouse-brained question before her question reached his mind. "Mossnose, Cloudheart...Hmmm..." His eyes shut again momentarily as he tried to remember where the two other elders had went, then opened to look up at the tortoiseshell. "They went out, I think to the river. Not sure, though." He shrugged, looking a bit apologetic about not knowing, then he remembered who he was talking to. There was a short silence before Nightbreeze finally decided to try and initiate a conversation. It hadn't been that long since an old friend, Jaymist, came by to settle a dispute the two of them had had and he was happy to say they were once again in good standing with each-other. But could he expect the same from Duskfire, a complete opposite from the gentle she-cat? "Um...So I've been hearing a lot about the Gathering last night. None of it was good. There was a fight?" the black tom inquired awkwardly, glancing away every now and then. Things about the Gathering weren't the only things he had been hearing. There had been a rumor going around recently about Duskfire and himself and he wasn't quite sure how to feel about it. There were a lot of mixed feelings going on within him, but he wasn't going to discuss it out-loud with anyone, especially Duskfire, until they mentioned something first.
