APPEARANCE

Sashiya has dark sandy fur coating her body with black stripes patterned over it. Her eyes are a rich golden color, in the dark it's the kind of yellow that is reminiscent of Halloween and black cats. The sandy coloring in her fur lightens around her face with her lower jaw a rich cream color. Her belly lightens slightly with no stripes crossing over it.
The back of her right ear is slightly torn. On her left hind leg a couple faded scars can be seen where she was torn into the fur a light cream across them. She has a smooth build that accentuates ever so slightly her shape giving her a more dainty appearance than one would expect for a cat that lives on it's own.

PERSONALITY
Sashiya is a powerful hunter. She keeps in shape, keeping her claws sharp and taking out the rats and mice that come near her home. She's gotten into a couple fights with predators over prey but for the majority she's gotten along on her own. She is proud of her ability to take care of herself. She hates asking for help and tends to hide herself when injured. Secretly she's afraid that if others find out she isn't as strong as she appears they'll kill her. She isn't around others often, and doesn't like them seeing them as potential threats or nuisances.
Sashiya is a curious creature. It's part of the reason why she lives so near humans, curious about their nature though unwilling to get close enough to any of them to have any relationship established. A couple times they have tried to tame her, and once tried to catch her to have her spayed, but each attempt has been dodged with Sashiya living out in the woods a good half mile away from the barn for a few weeks. She is clever, quick with her wit and readily able to asses the best move to make in a situation. Sashiya is a graceful cat. She takes her time cleaning herself in the morning and at night checking any injuries she acquired and keeping herself looking at her best.
Sashiya doesn't care much for family. She takes care of her kittens, and when they're old enough she expects them to clear out. She never lets on that she will step in if things get too rough and they ask her to, preferring to have them handle their own problems. She can be callous towards others when they need help.

HISTORY
Sashiya was born in a litter of two. A tom that had courted Terra while she was in heat was the mother of the kittens, though he didn't stick around long enough to even learn that Terra was pregnant. Sashiya was born alongside her brother Mist and her sister Merrow. Terra had built herself a den underneath a storage shed at a summer home. The humans hadn't been there for a while leaving her with a safe place to raise the kittens.
Sashiya loved to wrestle with her brother and sister. When her first hunting lessons came Sashiya was sweetly clumsy. Her brother would laugh at her when that happened, leaving her miffed and stalking off to gather what was left of her dignity. Merrow was much better, catching on quickly. That must have been what convinced her she could take on a rat. Sashiya was six moons old when the sound of fighting drew her attention. The small family dashed over to find Merrow trapped in a battle with a giant rat.
The rat was killed, but Merrow had a giant bite on her foreleg. It was bleeding heavily. The cats did what they could to help, cleaning the wound with their tongues and trying to stop the bleeding. When the next morning came however a high fever had set in from an infection. Merrow was dead before the sun reached noon.
Sashiya took her lessons more seriously now. When winter came she kept close to her mother learning everything that she could for her survival. Terra was growing snappish about the two halfgrown kits following her around. When Terra went into heat she drove Mist and Sashiya off. They traveled together for a time before they parted ways promising to keep in touch with each other.
It was spring when she found the barn. It was a good distance away from the house. Sashiya didn't see any other buildings, and the sound of the horses inside intrigued her. Drawn to a place so similar to where she was born Sashiya came in. A solid exploration revealed a host of mice living in the area, enough to keep her well fed, along with a couple rats. She didn't waste time killing the rats, getting rid of them as soon as she found them. She was left beat up, but for the most part she was okay. She crawled into a patch of hay and fell asleep.
When she woke up it was to voices. Her ears flattened against her head as she realized humans worked there with the horses. Sashiya was quick in getting out of there passing back into the woods. Sashiya came back later, partly out of curiosity and partly out of dislike of having to leave a place that she had liked. It didn't take long for her to figure out however that the humans didn't spend much time there. As long as she stayed out of there when the humans were around she had a place to stay where she could be warm and dry all year round.
The humans realized they had gained a cat when fall came. The mice had decreased being used for her dinner. Sashiya had found places she liked, and as long as she was cautious all was well. They had noticed the decrease in mice though, and one night when she came to the barn to curl up to sleep she found herself facing a large human. The man had spoken softly to her, but she hadn't stuck around, running out of there as fast as she could.
It was another couple weeks before she returned. When she did she found a dish set aside with food in it. The scent of the humans was heavy around it. Sashiya rejected it, continuing to live on her own. She didn't need the humans, and she didn't want them. The food remained for some time, the humans occasionally trying to catch sight of her, but Sashiya had grown more cautious after that. Eventually a sort of truce was reached between them. Sashiya would keep down the mice, and in return she could stay in the barn and the humans would pretend she wasn't there.
It worked well until a tom entered the area when Sashiya was in heat. Two months later the sound of kittens caught the attention of the humans. Sashiya had squeezed them into a narrow space beneath the floorboards where the humans couldn't reach, letting her continue to get food while they stayed safe. The humans weren't interested in having more than one cat though. They set up a trap.
Sashiya freaked out when she noticed the trap. The humans were going to take her and her kittens to do who knew what. She didn't know they just wanted to spay her and get the kittens checked. She grabbed the kittens and moved back out to the woods. They stayed there away from the barn until the kittens were fully grown. Satisfied Sashiya sent them on their way. There was only room enough for one cat in the area, and that would be her.
Sashiya returned to the barn. She was constantly on alert for the first moon, but at the end of it the humans tried once more to make overtures of friendship. This time Sashiya accepted the treat of tuna they offered, her way of saying she forgave them for their mistake. It was the only time she ate from them, and the rest of the gifts were ignored. Their lives returned to how they had been before, Sashiya keeping down the mice and the humans pretending they didn't know she was there.
