But what if fire never comes? Two years ago, Bluestar approached a kittypet named Rusty in the forest. ThunderClan was weak and needed more warriors, and the leader made him an offer: Leave your life of captivity and join us. This tom, with his flame-colored coat and sharp mind, could have revolutionized the forest—if he had accepted. But something told Rusty don't do it; something told Rusty to stay away, and Bluestar returned to ThunderClan alone. History has gone off course, and the forest is paying for it. Two years later, life in the clans seems more dangerous than ever. All-out war has been waging for three seasons straight, with WindClan and ThunderClan pitted against RiverClan and ShadowClan. Borders have moved, hierarchies have changed, and more blood has been shed in the forest than ever before. And things only seem to be getting darker. Without Fireheart to stop him, Tigerstar has quickly risen to become ThunderClan's leader. No cat knows of the murders he has committed in order to gain that title, but a cat like Tigerstar cannot hide his true nature forever. A dangerous group of rogues known as BloodClan call themselves ThunderClan's allies and hunt on ThunderClan's land, and Tigerstar continues to push for a superclan in his own name. His decisions have left ThunderClan doubting their leadership and have worried their allies in WindClan. How far will Tigerstar go to achieve his twisted vision? Meanwhile, greed and corruption eat away at the RiverClan-ShadowClan alliance. ShadowClan's depraved nature is becoming more evident to the other clans, and as RiverClan only becomes stronger and stronger, they question the necessity of an ally who feeds off their land and power. Rumors abound that RiverClan may be seeking a new alliance with WindClan that will change the tides of the war, although other voices whisper that RiverClan is now so strong that it has no need for allies. These days, it seems that there is no end in sight to the brutal war, and as the warriors' numbers dwindle, cats fear that the clans will fight each other into extinction. Is peace possible, or will the forest only get more brutal? With the forest spiraling towards anarchy, the future of the clans depends on the few noble warriors remaining and their ability to cope in a LIFE WITHOUT FIRE. |
