Bright jade green eyes opened, illuminated by the few rays of sunlight that managed to push through the leaves of the warriors' den. A little orange she-cat lay curled up into a ball, her nose tucked under her long and striped tail. Slowly, she unfurled herself and stretched luxuriously, sharp claws unsheathed, digging into her soft and warm bedding. Foxheart yawned, flashing her pointy fangs. The deputy then proceeded to step around her fellow warriors and pad out of the den.
The sun was weak against her fur and did little to provide any warmth to the her. Although, the day's weather was an improvement from a few sunrises ago, in which it rained. It was early and no other cat was awake as of yet. Foxheart loved waking up to misty mornings where all was silent; she had time to think without being interrupted by another cat. The she-cat padded the few tail-lengths to the Highrock where Tigerstar surely lay inside, sound asleep. She fluffed up her fur against the brittle breeze that nipped at her nose and ears.
Still, Foxheart was not fully accustomed to her role as deputy. She was still mystified that Tigerstar had chosen her to be her right-hand. No one saw it coming. Sure, she was loyal to him, but so were many of the other cats within Thunderclan and also among his rogue allies. She wondered if she would ever know the reason why he appointed her instead of someone else. But, she let those thoughts go for the time being, because she was deputy and with being deputy came responsibilities. It was time to lead the dawn patrol.

. : c l o u d f a l l : . Ice blue eyes parted as sunlight filtered in through the ferns arching over the main part of the medicine cat's den. Cloudfall stretched her legs, claws extended, as a massive yawn parted her mouth. The silver-furred she-cat then stepped out of her moss-and-feather nest, casting a quick look around before disappearing into the crack where her herbs were stored.
The young cat, fresh out of her training, scanned the various piles of herbs, making mental notes. All her stores were low, but some were more important than others, and that's what she needed to focus on. "Catmint is dangerously low.. Marigold is low, tansy is low.. And if I'm going into Twolegplace, then I might as well fetch camomile and lavender..."
Cloudfall turned away for her meager stores and exited the cleft. Dainty paws carried her silver for past her nest, past the nests for sickly cats, through the fern tunnel and into the heart of the camp. The young medicine cat cast her gaze around, spotting Foxheart near Highrock, presumably sorting out patrols for the day.
The pale silver cat padded across the camp, her steps light and airy, as if she had almost no weight to carry. The medicine cat dipped her head to Foxheart before sitting beside her. "Good morning, Foxheart." Like her wispy appearance, Cloudfall's voice was light and floaty, something sure to soothe a scared kit, but seemed to be out of place for an adult cat.
Cloudfall flicked her tail, touching the ginger deputy lightly."Before you send all our warriors out on patrol, I may need one or two. My supply of catmint is nearly nonexistent, and I'd rather not traipse about Twolegplace alone. If you don't mind lending one of your warriors to me, of course." Cloudfall smiled warmly at the deputy, hoping she wouldn't take her more joking words to heart. Tail wrapped around her paws, the medicine cat waited patiently for Foxheart's reply.

The deputy sat in silence, breathing in the misty morning air. She loved the little moments of silence she had, seeing as she rarely ever had any being deputy and all. It allowed her time to think things through and reflect upon her decisions so far as deputy. Silence hung in the air for only a few moments longer before Foxheart could hear traces of her Clanmates stirring.
Foxheart figured that she would lead the dawn patrol as usual with the addition of Swallowstrike and Tawnypaw. It was a rather small patrol but she didn't expect to get into any fights today, especially this early in the morning. Then, she would assign Nettlestripe to lead a hunting patrol later. She was so deep in thought that she barely noticed Cloudfall, the Medicince cat, standing in front of her. Cloudfall was so light on her paws that her paw steps were muted, and she was able to sneak up on the deputy. Foxheart's whiskers quivered with irritation. She hated being at a disadvantage. However, she pushed aside her annoyance and dipped her head in return to the Medicine cat as Cloudfall sat beside her.
The Medicine cat flicked Foxheart kind-heartedly, the deputy twitched at the touch of the other cat. Of course, Cloudfall needed to gather herbs, she seemed to always need herbs. Of course, it wasn't the silver she-cat's fault that herbs ran low, especially in the Leafbare season. The orange she-cat nodded and replied, "Yes, of course. If you'd like, you may join the dawn patrol and we can make a stop at Twolegplace for the catmint." She didn't want to inconvenience anyone, so she thought she might as well allow Cloudfall to join her. The sooner there was a Medicine cat apprentice, the better.

Swallowstrike's paws twitch in her sleep, as in her dream she scrambles after a squirrel. Her dream self swarms up a tree after the gray scrap of fur, but just as she leaps after its disappearing tail, her paws slip from the branch, and she hurtles down towards the ground... to wake up in her nest, paws outstretched before her as if to break her fall, nearly jabbing into the back of the nearby Eagletalon. Blinking the sleep from her eyes, the small black and white she-cat notices Foxheart leaving the den. Must be time for the dawn patrol. Had she been assigned the dawn patrol? Swallowstrike couldn't remember. Well, even if she hadn't, she intended to tag along. If Tawnypaw's awake, she'll come with us, and if she isn't we'll go training later.
Getting to her paws, Swallowstrike gives her pelt a quick shake, scattering scraps of moss onto her sleeping Clanmates, then bounds out of the den, carefully avoiding stray limbs and tails. She blinks as she emerges into the dim light of the camp. Well, it was called the dawn patrol. Amber eyes wander around the camp before falling onto Foxheart and Cloudfall below the Highrock. Cloudfall? Was the medicine cat coming too? Perhaps she needed to gather herbs, or was just looking for some exercise. Either way, assisting the medicine cat was a good use of time. Maybe after training with Tawnypaw, she's go and see if Cloudfall needed help. Or maybe before, depending on when Tawnypaw woke up.
Swallowstrike pads over to the Highrock and dips her head to the two cats waiting. "Good morning," she says brightly. "It's a bit chilly this morning, but a good patrol should warm us up, don't you think? Are you leading it, Foxheart?" She pricks her ears and looks up at the older she-cat. Foxheart hadn't always been a Clan cat, and hadn't even mentored an apprentice before becoming deputy, but what did Swallowstrike care? Tigerstar clearly thought Foxheart was the best cat for the job, so she must be. Her eyes move to Cloudfall. "How are you, Cloudfall? Do you need help with anything? I'm gonna get some training in with Tawnypaw later, but I'm sure I can find time for it if you need anything, since you don't have an apprentice and all." Poor Cloudfall had only been an apprentice recently herself, she probably didn't want a young cat running about and getting underfoot. But hopefully soon she'd find an up and coming kit that would follow in her pawsteps and be the next medicine cat. ThunderClan could use it, and of course ThunderClan came first.

Deep in the warm and dark confines of the warriors den, Eagletalon slept on with no intention of getting up early. He had been on plenty of patrols and hunting parties the last few sunrises and he figured he deserved a nice, long rest. If Foxheart or Tigerstar had a problem with that...then they could kiss his tail-end. He honestly didn't care what either of those cats thought. One was a former Bloodclanner and another was sitting up on his high horse thinking he ruled the forest and could invite just anyone into Thunderclan. Disgraceful...that's what that was. And Eagletalon was going to be the one to right all of Tigerstar's wrongs.
But in his dreams, he concerned himself little with reality or the plans that would have to come into action for his ambitions to be realized. In the realm he ruled, Eagletalon was already leading Thunderclan to a glorious future. With a she-cat next to him. The tom's expression wrinkled in his sleep as he tried to figure out who the she-cat was - undoubtedly Thunderclan - but the sound of another cat rising from the nest close to him quickly made him lose the dream and all hope of finding out who was with him.
Prying open his annoyed green eyes, Eagletalon saw that the tuxedo she-cat, Swallowstrike, was making her way out to Highrock where the unmistakeable forms of Cloudfall and Foxheart were speaking. Judging from the amount of light outside, it was early dawn. Great...just in time for the dawn patrol. He thought with irritation, uncurling his tail from around his white muzzle. Standing onto his spotted brown legs, the tom stretched and parted his jaws in a wide yawn, his claws tearing at the soft nests the warriors had made to sleep on. Well...If I'm up...Might as well put myself to use... After all, if Tigerstar saw, he could get some extra points towards being made deputy instead of Foxheart. Sure she was a good loyal cat, but would the other clans take her even remotely seriously since she wasn't even half clan? Pleeaaseeee, it's like Tigerstar was turning Thunderclan into another Shadowclan.
Picking his way through the den and into the open air, he suppressed a shiver from the sudden rush of chill leaf-bare air and continued on purposefully towards the deputy and her gathering group. Though he looked like he was simply checking his surroundings, the warrior was really giving his glossy dark brown tabby coat a once-over to make sure nothing was out of place, not stray patches of dirt or debris. When satisfied that he looked good as usual, Eagletalon picked up his pace and strode over to the group of she-cats with a charming smile plastered over his maw.
"Good Morning, ladies. I'm not too late for patrols am I?" He said smoothly while nodding to each she-cat in respect, coming to sit next to Swallowstrike who was just finishing explaining that she could accompany Cloudfall for herb collecting. Eagletalon flicked his ear at the thought of going out finding plants instead of patrolling the borders. Not that he didn't think medicine cats weren't important...just it wasn't the sort of thing he found interesting. Someone like him needed excitement, not just hanging around the camp all day waiting for cats to come in. His green eyes then rested on Foxheart's and he kept his expression anything but smug as he awaited her reply. Last thing he need was her catching on to how he felt about her position in the clan.

. : c l o u d f a l l : . "Yes, of course. If you'd like, you may join the dawn patrol and we can make a stop at Twolegplace for the catmint."
Cloudfall smiled warmly at the golden-furred she-cat. "Thank you, Foxheart." The medicine cat flicked her tailtip, waiting patiently to head out. Another she-cat emerged from the warriors' den, moving to join their little group.
"How are you, Cloudfall? Do you need help with anything? I'm gonna get some training in with Tawnypaw later, but I'm sure I can find time for it if you need anything, since you don't have an apprentice and all." Cloudfall turned her gaze to Swallowstrike, warm smile fixed in place. "I'm good, Swallowstrike, and you? I'm heading out on the dawn patrol, to make a stop for catmint at Twolegplace." Cloudfall thought for a moment, before adding, "I may take you up on your offer, though, later, as I need to stock up on a few.. wilder, herbs." She wouldn't bore them with the details of which herbs she needed, but the ones she were referring to weren't found in Twolegplace, thus, wild.
Another cat joined them, a tom, Eagletalon. Not being directly addressed, Cloudfall chose silence, in order to let one of the other she-cat's speak. She did, however, offer a small dip of her head in greeting, but little more. Her tailtip flicked again as she waited, again running over the herbs she could find in Twolegplace, without taking up too much time. Catmint was a must, but she'd grab chamomille and lavander, but only if she saw them nearby.
