HISTORY
Many, many seasons ago young Specklethorn and Mothfur fell in love. They produced their first litter of kits rather quickly: Littlekit and Spiderkit, who soon grew up to become Littleflower and Spiderheart. When their eldest kits had become warriors, Specklethorn was so proud that she decided she wanted more babies, and Mothfur delivered. His lovely mate soon announced that she was expecting a second litter. This time, StarClan blessed them with three healthy kits: Mousekit, Cloverkit, and Blackkit.
Mousekit's fur was so dilute at her birth that she looked completely gray and was thus given the name of a gray animal. For a while, she remained as gray as her sister Cloverkit, and only when the siblings played in the sunny center of WindClan camp were the ginger-cream patches in her fur even slightly visible. As she grew older, however, the pattern grew more pronounced, eventually becoming the color it is today.
Mousekit's parents stressed family and though the siblings were numerous and diverse, they were forced to spend time together and to get along. Spottedthorn and Mothfur were quite the couple, organizing family outings and playdates to keep the kits close, even after they became apprentices.
However, once Mousekit became Mousepaw, the fact that she was ill-suited to warrior life became obvious. She hated to get her paws dirty and was more about grooming than she was about hunting and fighting. Her view on the war was simply that, "ShadowClan were brutes; and ThunderClan are monsters, too, if they think that BloodClan is decent company." That was about the extent of her interest.
Her mentor quickly learned that the only way he was going to get Mousepaw to learn was to force her. She hated fighting practice, but she would defend herself instinctively when he launched a surprise attack on her. It was a slow process, but she gradually learned to refine her skills. All the clan doubted her ability, because she never showed any talent at all, until she recently got into a skirmish with a rogue. Mousepaw, backed into a corner, brought out her best fighting skills and sent the rogue running for the border. Who said a lady couldn't defend herself?
WindClan's leader finally had proof of her skills, and since the Clan needed more warriors, Mousepaw was given her warrior name. Since there was nothing remarkable about her vapid political views or her rarely-seen fighting skills, she couldn't be named Mouseheart or Mouseclaw. The one thing she did have was her beautiful, unusual coat, which had bloomed into a full gray tortie pattern, so she was named Mousedapple.
She is now WindClan's newest warrior.
