Unless the previous leader is still alive, the clan leader is given nine lives and the suffix -star in a ceremony by StarClan at the Moonstone. If you roleplay a leader, your responsibilities will include:
A deputy is a cat chosen by the leader to be second-in-command of the clan. They are usually a senior warrior and the Warrior Code dictates that they must have trained at least one apprentice. If a clan leader is unable to execute their above duties for any reason, a deputy must carry out the task for them. If a leader dies, the deputy travels to the Mothermouth to receive their nine lives and become the new leader. If you roleplay a deputy, your responsibilities include:
Medicine cats are specially trained cats who treat diseases and injuries as well as interpret signs and prophecies from StarClan. There are both perks and downfalls to the position: while medicine cats can travel peacefully on other clans' territory, they are not allowed to take a mate and have kits. Of course, both of these are rules that are not necessarily followed. If you play a medicine cat, your duties will include:
A medicine cat apprentice is an apprentice who studies under the clan's medicine cat to learn about herbs and healing. MCAs, as we like to abbreviate them, are usually young cats (regular apprentice age) who have taken a liking to medicine early on in life, but they can also be warriors who have found a calling later in life, whether it be after the loss of a mate, injury, or other circumstances. Although they get a full "warrior" name once they are adequately trained, medicine cat apprentices remain apprentices until their mentors die. If you play a medicine cat apprentice, your duties will include all regular medicine cat duties, only with the supervision of your mentor. |

We like to see a variety of RPers "in power", so we encourage only one high position per person. However, if we are having difficulty filling positions, one member may have as many as two high positions, but the characters must be in different clans and must be different types of positions. So if you already play a leader or deputy, you can only play a medicine cat or MCA of another clan. When there is an open position with no successor (ie. a clan's leader and deputy both die, a medicine cat dies without an apprentice), we will hold auditions for the role. If a deputy dies or retires, the leader and the admin will work together to nominate a new deputy from the clan's active warriors who have mentored at least one apprentice. Leaders will obviously want certain cats based on merit, personality, etc. but admins must take into consideration OOC things such as RPer activity, trustworthiness, etc. If a medicine cat apprentice quits or dies, a similar process occurs. However, since medicine is a special calling, we will first ask for any interested active apprentices to submit their names. The medicine cat and staff will work together to decide on a suitable apprentice. Note: Both leaders and medicine cats may choose to hold auditions for their successor. Important! We have a "running activity check" on people who roleplay high position characters. If you haven't logged in for more than two weeks without alerting an admin (via PM or the away board), you may lose your high position characters. |

This is a time of war, and we expect leaders to lose lives. If you are a leader, you must keep count of your lives and notify an admin each time you lose one. When you have lost your ninth life, you must relinquish the position. It might not seem fair, but everyone wants a turn to be leader. Medicine cat apprentices will not become full medicine cats until after their mentor dies. However, if they do not already have a warrior name, apprentices may receive their full name anytime after they have completed one of each of the following threads:
